Aviation Insurance
Do you operate, work on, or work around aircraft? You might need Aviation Insurance. While the Australian Aviation industry has stringent safety standards, flying and working around aircraft carries with it some serious risk.
Did you know?
What is Aviation Insurance?
Aviation insurance has several components that it can cover.
Aircraft Hull and Liability cover is the primary policy for all Aircraft owners or operators. The right policy will cover loss or damage to the aircraft and third party or passenger liability arising from an incident whether in the air, whilst taxiing, or even whilst stationary on the ground.
Aircraft Non-ownership Liability is for private pilots and charter operators and other non-owners that make use of aircraft on hire. The policy is intended to cover liability arising from the use of a charter aircraft or aircraft on hire.
Hangar Keepers Liability is for any business that operates in or around airports, regardless of whether you own the actual hangar. This is the type of policy for Aviation Mechanics, Baggage Handlers, refuellers, Construction Trades or any other business that works around aircraft.
Aircraft aerial application liability (crop spray liability) is for Farmers and Agri-Business operators that utilise crop spraying methods to insure for chemical drift.
Who is it For?
Whether you are a private pilot, a baggage handler, aviation mechanic, hanger owner or operator, security contractor, or even a construction trade that is operating with or around aircraft you may need Aviation Insurance.
I have a Business Insurance? Why do I need Aviation?
A Business Insurance policy will often contain exclusions, whether that’s under the property section within the definition of contents or stock where it may exclude goods that are used on or in aircraft or for your Public & Products Liability which may exclude the use of or damage to aircraft or ‘anything that flies’.
As a result, most Business Insurance policies are not suitable for businesses that operate around aircraft.
It is possible that a business that operates at an airfield or around aircraft and in other non aerial applications may require both a standard business insurance policy and an Aviation Insurance policy.
